Catherine "Cate" Davis is a animal researcher that goes to study the wolf population in the UK. There she stumbles into a whole pack of wolves that seem to have no tail. She thinks the reason is a congenital vertebral anomaly, but the sheer number of wolves she finds with the same 'affliction' leaves her intrigued.
She takes her team of two (her partner, Samuel "Sam" Martin, and her assistant, Lisa James) and they go on-field, noticing that the wolves stay hidden behind bushes and that their eyes glow. They seem more intelligent than other wolves she had studied, and not at all concerned with their Land Rover or their presence.
Together, they discover an old castle with the surrounding area filled with homes. There they find a tribe of sorts, with people wearing pelts on their shoulders and moving with predatory efficiency. They learn that these people are werewolves, able to turn into wolves at will and once a month turning into a hybrid form, when they are able to procreate with their mates. Werewolves who do not find their mate cannot have offspring.
King Vereticus has a habit of killing or turning every newcomer, in order to prevent the discovery of their pack from the outside world. Upon the arrival of the three, however, Gwenn, his daughter, "claims" Sam as her mate, which makes Vereticus decide to turn all three.

I liked this book, my first by Sarah Cameron. It was a little confusing in gone beginning because it seemed like it was following three main characters. Once the story limited itself to the main character it became more clear, and had the setting for subsequent books.I felt that this book could have been so much longer, giving more details during their time together instead of mentioning it as a hindsight in some areas (such as the dance lessons). I did enjoy this book, and plan on getting the other two book available on the series.

It was a good short story wish it was longer

I was impressed that Greg was so patient and Lisa so understanding of their situation. I hope to see More of them in the next story.
There were several unexpected turns in this storyline and character development that made it more pleasurable to read. Good job.
Good story with shifters, even being a short novellas. Romantic love scenes, can't wait for the next installment! Hopefully they are longer.

Dear writer please look at the placement of Cate and Greg in the plane the first time, then all of a sudden you have them in the home. Which is VERY confusing, so please fix it. Otherwise You have a GREAT HIT!! With this set of books. I have to say this is well written, no grammar mistakes, no spelling mistakes and written with a passion that you can see in your minds eye!! I couldn't put it down till I had finished it! Thank you for such a great read!
